Terms of Service
Effective July 19, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and MatPad for use of MatPad. By creating an account or registering for a camp, you agree to them. Please read the sections on fees, refunds, and liability carefully.
1. Who these terms apply to
These terms apply to two groups:
- Organizers - coaches and clubs who create an account to publish camps and collect registrations.
- Participants - parents and guardians who register an athlete for a camp.
Some sections apply to only one group; each is labeled. Where a section is unlabeled, it applies to everyone.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an organizer account. Athletes do not create accounts.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your password secure. Tell us immediately at matpadapp@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
- The information you give us must be accurate and kept current.
3. What MatPad is - and is not
MatPad is software. We provide the tools to list a camp, take registrations, and collect payment. We are not the organizer, operator, promoter, or insurer of any camp listed on the platform, and we are not a party to the agreement between an organizer and a family.
We do not vet, endorse, background-check, or supervise organizers, coaches, staff, venues, or participants. Families should evaluate a camp and its operator independently before registering.
4. Organizer responsibilities
If you publish a camp, you are solely responsible for:
- Running the camp as described, including dates, location, pricing, and what's included.
- The safety and supervision of participants, including appropriate staffing, coach screening and background checks, medical response planning, and any insurance your jurisdiction or venue requires.
- Complying with all laws that apply to youth athletics programs in your area - licensing, mandatory reporting, concussion protocols, and safe-sport requirements among them.
- Handling the personal information of families lawfully. You receive athlete names, dates of birth, medical notes, and emergency contacts. Use that information only to run your camp, protect it, and do not sell or repurpose it.
- Publishing and honoring a clear refund and cancellation policy, and issuing refunds when you owe them.
- The accuracy of your listing. Misleading listings may be removed without notice.
5. Fees and payouts (organizers)
- Creating an account, building camps, and publishing them is free.
- MatPad charges a 4% platform fee on each paid registration. It is deducted automatically from the payment before the remainder reaches your account.
- Free camps - a price of $0 - carry no platform fee.
- Stripe processing fees are separate and are charged by Stripe according to your Stripe agreement. They are not included in and not refunded by the 4% platform fee.
- Payments settle into your own connected Stripe account. Payout timing and schedule are controlled by Stripe, not by us.
- To accept paid registrations you must connect a Stripe account and complete Stripe's onboarding. By doing so you also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. We do not allow a paid camp to take payment until Stripe confirms the account can accept charges.
- We may change our fees on 30 days' notice. Changes do not apply retroactively to registrations already taken.
6. Registration, payment, and refunds (participants)
- When you register, you are contracting with the camp organizer, not with MatPad. Your payment goes to their account, less the platform fee.
- Refunds are issued by the organizer, under the refund policy they publish. MatPad does not process refunds and cannot compel an organizer to issue one. Contact the organizer first.
- If a camp is cancelled, moved, or not delivered as described, that is a matter between you and the organizer. We will help by providing records where we reasonably can.
- You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of the athlete you register, that the information you provide is accurate, and that you are authorized to agree to the waiver on the athlete's behalf.
- Chargebacks initiated without first seeking a refund from the organizer may result in the registration being cancelled.
7. Waivers
Any waiver or release presented during registration is an agreement between you and the camp organizer. MatPad records that you agreed and when, and makes that record available to the organizer. We are not a party to it and make no representation about its enforceability.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- List a camp you do not have the authority to run, or post false or misleading details.
- Use the service to launder funds, take payment for something you will not deliver, or otherwise defraud anyone.
- Upload unlawful, harassing, or infringing content.
- Access data you are not authorized to see, probe or bypass our security or rate limits, or scrape the service.
- Use the service to send unsolicited bulk email.
- Interfere with the service's operation or place unreasonable load on it.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section, and we may withhold payouts pending investigation of suspected fraud.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post - camp descriptions, logos, and the like. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. You confirm you have the rights to everything you post.
10. Service availability
The service is provided as is and as available. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice before discontinuing something organizers depend on.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We are not responsible for injuries, losses, or damages arising from participation in any camp listed on the platform, or for the acts or omissions of any organizer, coach, staff member, venue, or participant.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MatPad will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the platform fees we actually received from you in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in full.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MatPad from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these terms, your violation of any law, or - if you are an organizer - the operation of your camp.
14. Termination
You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for violation of these terms, for suspected fraud, or if required by law. Obligations that by their nature should survive - fees owed, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification - survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
Before filing anything, please email matpadapp@gmail.com - nearly everything is resolvable that way.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date above will change, and for material revisions we will notify organizers by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
